COLUMBIA, MO (Oct. 4, 2018) – Ameren Missouri donated $30,000 to Central Missouri Community Action (CMCA) to provide emergency energy assistance for 89 families on a limited income in Audrain, Boone, Callaway, Cole, Cooper, Howard, Moniteau and Osage counties in mid-Missouri. The company has partnered with several energy-assistance agencies from across its service territory to provide immediate funds to customers affected by this summer's extreme temperatures.
"Even though we just entered the fall season, we still have many customers in Central Missouri needing extra help because of the really hot summer we experienced,” said Chip Webb, Central Division Director for Ameren Missouri. "Ameren Missouri cares about the wellbeing of these most vulnerable customers. With this donation to CMCA's energy assistance program, we’ve been able to provide immediate relief to our neighbors in need.”
"When you're right on the line of being able to pay your bills or not, this funding can help a family over the hump," said Darin Preis, CMCA Executive Director. "Our members work hard on their journey toward self-reliance and this helps provide some stability."
The gift is part of the company’s multiyear, statewide program designed to help customers struggling to make ends meet due to the extreme summer heat, and lower their energy bills for the months and years to come. The donation comes from corporate earnings and is not charged to customers.
