Community Foundation of the Ozarks receives funds from Ameren Missouri to help local community recover from effects of COVID-19
'Power of Giving' COVID-19 relief fund supports efforts throughout Missouri

ST. LOUIS (Oct. 6, 2020) – Thanks to contributions from Ameren Missouri employees and its Board of Directors, the company has donated $111,000 to the Community Foundation of the Ozarks (CFO) to provide essential resources to local families impacted by the pandemic. The donation comes from the AmerenCares "Power of Giving" COVID-19 Relief Fund, which collected more than $800,000 in donations from Ameren employees and board members throughout the summer to help 10 local charities with relief efforts.

The donation will support CFO’s COVID-19 relief efforts, providing grants to nonprofits, schools and faith-based organizations that are delivering food and necessities to families, offering services for victims of domestic violence, improving educational technology for schools and students, and supporting emergency living expenses.

“We are grateful for Ameren Missouri's support as we work to alleviate the impacts of the COVID-19 crisis in our community,” said Brian Fogle, chief executive officer of CFO. “Nonprofits often serve as the ‘second responders’ in disaster situations, and this donation will enable us to provide grants to other area organizations that are responding to increased needs, as families struggle with job loss, illness and other challenges during this pandemic.”

Since the start of the pandemic, CFO has granted over $2.9 million to assist nonprofits with COVID-19 relief efforts serving communities in Benton, Camden, Cape Girardeau, Gasconade, Howell, Miller and Morgan counties in Missouri.

“As a Missouri-based company, it’s important that we do everything we can to help our communities, especially those impacted by the pandemic,” said Chip Webb, central division director for Ameren Missouri. “We recognize that many of our customers are facing financial challenges during these difficult times, and our co-workers wanted to personally contribute to the communities we serve.”

The Power of Giving fund is one of many ways Ameren Missouri has worked to help customers weather the challenges that have come with COVID-19. Throughout the past several months, Ameren Missouri provided $5 million in energy assistance funds for residential, small business and nonprofit customers experiencing hardship.

Ameren Missouri has been providing electric and gas service for more than 100 years, and the company's electric rates are among the lowest in the nation. Ameren Missouri's mission is to power the quality of life for its 1.2 million electric and 132,000 natural gas customers in central and eastern Missouri. The company's service area covers 64 counties and more than 500 communities, including the greater St. Louis area.
