Take your spring cleaning outdoors by adopting a section of shoreline
Ameren Missouri encourages Lake of the Ozarks residents to join in cleaning up trash and debris along the lake

LAKE OZARK, Mo. (March 21, 2023) – It’s time for spring cleaning, and at Lake of the Ozarks, hundreds of residents are stepping outside to clean up the shoreline. The annual Adopt-the-Shoreline spring cleanup at Lake of the Ozarks gives community members the opportunity to sign up a team to “adopt” five miles of lake shoreline. Ameren Missouri, the event's primary sponsor, is providing trash bags and dumpster services for those cleaning up around the lake.

"After the quieter winter months, it’s fun to see people come outdoors again with their family and friends to beautify our lake community," said Greg Stoner, environmental specialist at Ameren Missouri. “We all have created many memories at the lake, and being a part of caring for it makes that connection even stronger. We’re able to have an incredible impact when everyone pitches in.”

Volunteers can contact Ameren Missouri directly at 573.365.9203 to adopt a section of the shoreline and arrange for trash services. The program will run through April 30.

The Adopt-the-Shoreline program enables interested groups and residents to adopt portions of the Lake of the Ozarks shoreline for litter control. Since 1991, more than 13,000 volunteers have removed more than 5 million pounds of trash from the lake's shoreline. Each adopting group is responsible for cleaning a minimum of five shoreline miles and participating in at least two shoreline cleanup events. Volunteers are always welcome and needed to make the program a success.
